Following a commanding 151-run victory over England in the second Test of the ongoing five-match series, the Indian cricket team has claimed the top spot in the latest World Test Championship (WTC) standings with a total of 14 points. The team earned four points from the rain-forced draw in the opening Test and an additional 12 points for the outright win at Lord’s.
Despite the win, India’s total points were reduced to 14 after being docked two points for a slow over rate, as per WTC rules. Each match win is valued at 12 points, with six points awarded for a tie and four for a drawn result. India’s strong performance propelled them to the leading position in the standings.
Pakistan and West Indies are closely behind, both with 12 points. Pakistan secured their points with a victory over West Indies, leveling the series. The Caribbean side, having won the opening match of the series, also has 12 points but is placed third in the table.
England occupies the fourth spot with two points, losing two points due to a slow over rate in the drawn opening match. The third Test of the series between India and England is set to begin at Headingley in Leeds.
