West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury revealed on Wednesday that the party has finalized candidates for seven Lok Sabha seats in the state. Chowdhury stated, “We have decided candidates on seven seats and accordingly the candidates have been informed.”

Among the notable candidates, senior Congress leader Nepal Mahato is set to contest the Lok Sabha election, while Miltan Rashid will vie for the Birbhum seat. Additionally, Mortaza Hossain has been confirmed as the candidate from Jangipur, with Chowdhury himself contesting from Baharampur.

Mortaza Hossain, the grandson of Congress leader Abus Sattar, has been actively involved in politics in Murshidabad district. The Congress party also plans to field candidates in Raiganj, Malda Uttar, Malda Dakshin, and the Kolkata Uttar seat.

Sources within the Congress party revealed that the sitting MP from Malda Dakshin, Abu Hasem Khan Choudhury, will step aside to make way for his son, Isha Khan Choudhury.

With the candidates finalized for these key seats, the West Bengal chapter of the Congress gears up for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, aiming to make significant strides in the state’s political landscape.
