Volkswagen Expands Taigun GT Lineup with New Sport Variants

Volkswagen has broadened its Taigun GT lineup with the introduction of two new variants under the name “Sport” – the Taigun GT Line and Taigun GT Plus Sport. Available with both manual and automatic transmission options, these variants bring a blend of enhanced performance and stylish upgrades to the popular SUV. Here’s a closer look at what these new offerings bring to the table.

  • GT Line (1-litre turbo-petrol)
  • GT Line MT: Rs 14.08 lakh
  • GT Line AT: Rs 15.63 lakh
  • GT Plus Sport (1.5-litre turbo-petrol)
  • GT Plus Sport MT: Rs 18.54 lakh
  • GT Plus Sport DCT: Rs 19.74 lakh

GT Line Features:

The GT Line variant introduces the GT-badge and blacked-out styling for the Taigun, powered by the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine. It offers a host of features including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, wireless charger, rear parking camera, and auto AC. Enhancements include larger 17-inch blacked-out alloy wheels, smoked LED headlamps, and various blacked-out exterior elements.

GT Plus Sport Highlights:

The GT Plus Sport variant, based on the top-spec Taigun GT Plus, features cosmetic enhancements such as red-coloured GT badges and red-painted brake callipers. The interior boasts red highlights on the dashboard, seats, and steering wheel, along with metallic pedals. It retains the feature list of the GT Plus, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic AC, and powered front seats.

  • GT Line: 1-litre turbo-petrol engine, 115 PS power, 178 Nm torque
  • GT Plus Sport: 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, 150 PS power, 250 Nm torque

Price Range and Competition:

With prices ranging from Rs 11.70 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), the Taigun GT variants compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta N Line and Kia Seltos GT Line and X-Line variants. Other competitors include the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and Citroen C3 Aircross.
