Congress MLA Vikramaditya Singh to Challenge Kangana Ranaut in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi Lok Sabha Seat

In a significant electoral showdown, Congress MLA Vikramaditya Singh is set to contest against Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut for the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh. The Congress party announced Singh’s candidacy as part of its list of 16 candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The Mandi constituency witnessed heightened tensions even before Singh’s nomination, with Kangana Ranaut referring to him as ‘chhota pappu’. In response, Singh expressed respect for Ranaut but urged her to focus on addressing pressing issues, particularly the recent disaster in Manali.

Singh, scion of the erstwhile Bhushar estate, is known for his political acumen and lineage. His entry into the electoral fray adds an intriguing dimension to the Mandi contest, which has garnered widespread attention due to the involvement of both political and entertainment personalities.

The electoral battle in Himachal Pradesh holds significance as the state prepares to vote on June 1 for its four Lok Sabha seats and six Assembly seats. The BJP, having secured all four Lok Sabha seats in 2019, faces a formidable challenge from the Congress and other political players in the upcoming polls.

With the Mandi constituency emerging as a focal point of political discourse, observers anticipate a closely contested election marked by spirited campaigning and diverse voter engagement. The outcome of this contest could potentially influence the broader political landscape in Himachal Pradesh and beyond.
