Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expressed confidence that the Indian corporate sector will align itself with the developmental objectives of the nation, working towards transforming India into a developed nation or ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, marking the 100th anniversary of independence.
Speaking at a session on ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Viksit Bharat & industry,’ organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), Sitharaman highlighted the critical role of the industry in achieving the developmental goals outlined for 2047. She emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that the objective of Viksit Bharat is to create a better India for future generations.
Sitharaman acknowledged the historical role of Indian industry, from supporting the freedom struggle to building capacity despite colonial pressures. She expressed confidence that the industry, having contributed significantly to national interests, will naturally align itself with India’s developmental objectives.
The Finance Minister emphasized that industry will be both a significant contributor and a primary beneficiary in the process of building a developed India by 2047. The session aimed to foster collaboration between the government and industry to work collectively towards the vision of Viksit Bharat.
