Sita Soren Joins BJP After Hemant Soren’s Arrest

In a significant political development, Sita Soren, the sister-in-law of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Sita Soren’s decision to switch parties comes almost two months after her brother-in-law’s arrest in a land scam case. She made her entry into the saffron party at an event held in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Reports suggest that Sita Soren’s dissatisfaction stemmed from not being selected as the Chief Minister following Hemant Soren’s arrest. Despite familial ties to the former CM, Hemant Soren chose Champai Soren as his successor for the coveted post, sidelining members of his own family.

In a statement following her induction into the BJP, Sita Soren expressed her frustration with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), stating, “I worked for the party for 14 years but never received the respect I deserved.” She voiced her confidence in Prime Minister Modi, JP Nadda, and Amit Shah, emphasizing the need for change in Jharkhand and the preservation of tribal interests.

Sita Soren’s decision to align herself with the BJP underscores the shifting political landscape in Jharkhand. Her entry into the saffron party is seen as a strategic move to assert influence and champion the cause of tribal communities in the state. As she embarks on this new political journey, Sita Soren’s actions are poised to impact the dynamics of Jharkhand politics in the days to come.
