Indian-American Congressman Urges Action Against Attacks on Hindu Temples in the US

Indian-American Congressman Shri Thanedar has called for urgent action by law enforcement agencies in response to the increasing number of attacks targeting Hindu Temples across the United States. Thanedar, while engaging with members of the Hindu community on Monday, expressed concerns about the lack of sufficient action by local law enforcement to investigate these incidents.

The Congressman’s call for action follows his recent introduction of a resolution against Hinduphobia in the House of Representatives, aimed at condemning anti-Hindu bigotry and hate. The resolution, which highlights the rising intolerance against the Hindu community, has been referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability for further consideration.

Speaking on the escalating fear among Hindu communities, Thanedar emphasized the need for support and highlighted the inadequacy of law enforcement responses to address these attacks. He underscored the urgency of the situation, noting the absence of suspects, arrests, or resolutions to the ongoing issues plaguing Hindu temples across the nation.

Additionally, Thanedar emphasized the dissemination of misinformation surrounding these attacks and the resultant apprehension among Indian American and Hindu communities. He emphasized the resolution’s role in bringing attention to Congress and the Biden administration, urging concerted efforts to address the concerns raised.

Vijay Sadhawal, another Indian-American, echoed concerns about the perceived bias of American media towards the Hindu community. He viewed the resolution as a crucial step towards advocating for the rights of American Hindus and emphasized the need for Hindu Americans to play an active role in safeguarding minority rights.

Sadhawal drew parallels to historical injustices, such as the attacks on Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s, highlighting similarities in the challenges faced by minority communities. He called for a collective effort to combat discrimination and ensure equal treatment for all, emphasizing the pivotal role of democratic institutions in upholding these principles.
