Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty Clinch Thailand Open Super 500 Title

Bangkok: India’s star men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty continued their remarkable performance by securing the Thailand Open Super 500 title. They defeated China’s Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi in the final with a score of 21-15 21-15 in just 46 minutes.

Victory and Achievements

Ranked number three in the world, the Indian duo, who previously won their first major title in Thailand in 2019, received a significant boost ahead of the Paris Olympics. This win marks their second title of the season, following their victory at the French Open Super 750 in March. They had also finished as runners-up at the Malaysia Super 1000 and India Super 750 tournaments.

Special Moment in Bangkok

“Bangkok has always been special for us, we won our first super series title back in 2019 here and also the Thomas Cup, so it has been a special place and so happy to be here,” said Chirag Shetty after their victory.

Career Milestone

For Satwik and Chirag, this title is crucial as they recover from a recent string of less successful tournaments. They faced early exits at the All England Championships and missed the Asia Championships due to Satwik’s injury. Their Thomas Cup campaign also did not yield the desired results.

Looking Ahead

The victory in Thailand comes at a significant moment in their careers, providing them with momentum and confidence heading into future competitions, including the Paris Olympics.
