Rajnath Singh Slams China’s Renaming of Arunachal Pradesh, Affirms India’s Resolve

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh condemned China’s recent move to rename parts of Arunachal Pradesh, asserting that such actions would not alter ground realities and could strain relations between New Delhi and Beijing. Speaking at a public gathering in Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh, Singh cautioned China against harboring misconceptions about territorial claims based on name changes.

Singh emphasized that India’s commitment to maintaining friendly relations with its neighbors did not preclude a firm response to any threats to its sovereignty and honor. He underscored India’s capacity to defend its pride if challenged, while reaffirming the government’s dedication to safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity.

Highlighting the Modi government’s efforts to rectify past neglect and enhance infrastructure along the Arunachal Pradesh-China border, Singh praised the strategic significance of the region and its inhabitants. He credited the residents of Arunachal Pradesh for their bravery in defending the nation’s interests during times of adversity.

Singh contrasted the developmental initiatives undertaken by the Modi government with the perceived neglect by previous Congress administrations, citing examples such as the strategically important Sela Tunnel. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi, the tunnel is hailed as a milestone in enhancing connectivity and security along the India-China border.

Addressing concerns about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Singh reassured the public that no Indian citizen would lose their citizenship due to its implementation. He underscored the law’s provisions to grant Indian citizenship to persecuted minorities from neighboring countries, dispelling misinformation spread by opposition parties.

Singh’s remarks underscored India’s steadfast commitment to protecting its territorial integrity, fostering regional stability, and addressing domestic concerns through inclusive policies and strategic initiatives.
