On May 28, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi announced that an INDIA bloc government would abolish the 50% cap on reservations, affirming the alliance’s dedication to protecting the Constitution with “dil, jaan aur khoon” (heart, life, and blood). Addressing an election rally in Bansgaon, Uttar Pradesh, alongside Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Gandhi underscored the ideological battle between the INDIA bloc and those he claimed seek to undermine the Constitution.

“There is INDIA bloc and the Constitution on one side and those who want to finish the Constitution on the other,” Gandhi proclaimed to the gathered supporters. He reiterated that the INDIA bloc, a coalition of like-minded parties, is committed to increasing the current reservation limits, thereby ensuring greater social justice and representation.

The rally marked a significant moment in the ongoing political campaign, with Gandhi and Yadav presenting a united front against their political adversaries. The pledge to end the 50% cap on reservations aims to address long-standing demands for greater inclusion and equity within India’s reservation system.

As the campaign progresses, the promise to protect and enhance the Constitution’s provisions remains a central theme for the INDIA bloc, symbolizing their broader commitment to upholding democratic values and social justice.
