Former Indian seam bowler Praveen Kumar has launched a blistering critique of Hardik Pandya, lambasting the all-rounder for his decision to bypass domestic cricket commitments. Despite recently returning to cricket after an ankle injury hiatus, Hardik chose to prioritize the DY Patil tournament over Ranji and other forms of domestic cricket, a move heavily criticized by Kumar.
Kumar expressed bewilderment at the special treatment afforded to Pandya, questioning why different rules applied to him compared to other players like Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer. He strongly advocated for Pandya’s participation in all formats of the game, emphasizing the importance of his presence for the national team.
“Why are there different rules for him? The BCCI should threaten him. Why would you play just the domestic T20 tournament (DY Patil)? Play all three formats. Or have you played 60-70 Test matches that you will just play T20. The country needs you,” Kumar remarked on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel.
