Poco F6 Review: A Budget Gamer’s Dream or Just Another Average Smartphone?

The Poco F series has never been synonymous with flashy aesthetics, and the F6 doesn’t deviate from this trend. Sporting a rather unremarkable design with a plastic body, it may easily be mistaken for a budget offering in the crowded smartphone market.

However, there are some redeeming qualities to consider. The device now boasts an IP64 rating, rendering it resistant to water and dust, a feature proven during early monsoon rains in Bengaluru. Though not recommended for underwater adventures, this durability adds a layer of reliability. Additionally, the inclusion of a 24-month warranty underscores the brand’s commitment to quality assurance.

Upon initial use, the display may appear lackluster, but a simple adjustment to the “Vivid” profile breathes life into the colors and contrast. The 6.67-inch 120Hz display with 1.5K resolution enhances visual clarity, outperforming comparable models in its price range. The bezels, while thinner, lack the uniformity seen in some competitors’ offerings.

For audio enthusiasts, the stereo speaker setup on the Poco F6 delivers exceptional clarity and volume, rivaling even higher-priced smartphones. Likewise, the haptic feedback from the keys provides a satisfying tactile experience, reminiscent of premium devices.

In terms of camera performance, the Poco F6 offers respectable results with its 50 MP primary camera featuring OIS. While not groundbreaking, it captures impressive shots in various lighting conditions and supports 4K 60fps video recording. The 20 MP selfie camera provides decent video capabilities up to 1080p 60fps.

The device runs on the HyperOS, offering a highly customizable lock screen and a user experience reminiscent of MIUI with hints of iOS. However, bloatware remains a drawback, tarnishing the initial impression. Despite this, Poco promises extensive software support, ensuring longevity and security for users.

At a price point of Rs 29,999 (or Rs 25,999 with bank offers), the Poco F6 with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset offers compelling performance, particularly for budget-conscious gamers. While lacking in flashy features, it presents a solid option in its segment, backed by robust hardware and promising software support.
