Celine Dion understated romance “Past Lives” claimed two major accolades at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, winning Best Feature and Best Director. “Past Lives” stood out as one of the top nominees alongside other films like “May December” and “American Fiction.” While “May December” secured an award for Samy Burch’s first screenplay, “American Fiction” emerged as a significant winner. Cord Jefferson’s comedic satire “American Fiction” received acclaim, with Jeffrey Wright winning the award for Lead Performer.
