Production house Panorama Studios has joined forces with Gulfstream Pictures and JOAT Films for the Hollywood remake of the successful Drishyam franchise. Acquiring the international remake rights for the Malayalam movies Drishyam 1 and 2 from original producers Aashirvad Cinemas, Panorama Studios is set to bring the acclaimed Indian film series to a global audience.
The Drishyam franchise is not only being developed for Hollywood but also for South Korea, with a development deal underway for a Spanish language version. Kumar Mangat Pathak, Chairman and Managing Director of Panorama Studios, expressed excitement about celebrating the Drishyam story worldwide. Pathak stated, “After Korea and Hollywood, our mission is to produce Drishyam in 10 countries in the next three to five years.”
Producer Abhishek Pathak, who also directed Drishyam 2 (Hindi), emphasized the immense love received from Indian audiences, making the franchise a massive success. He highlighted the strength of Drishyam’s story and the desire to share it with global audiences.
The original 2013 Malayalam crime thriller, directed by Jeethu Joseph, revolves around Georgekutty (Mohanlal) and his family, who face suspicion when the son of the Inspector General goes missing. With its gripping narrative, Drishyam has garnered widespread acclaim, and this collaboration aims to bring its captivating storytelling to Hollywood and beyond.
