OpenAI’s new temporary chat feature on ChatGPT offers a more privacy-conscious AI chatting experience. Similar to browsing in incognito mode, conversations in temporary chat mode won’t be stored in the history, and OpenAI claims that the data won’t be used for training. However, a copy of the chat may be retained by the company for safety purposes for up to 30 days. This feature is available for both free and paid users of ChatGPT.
To use temporary chat on the desktop version, simply click on the “ChatGPT” option in the top left corner and enable the feature. For Android smartphone users, access the temporary chat option by clicking on the hamburger icon in the top right corner.
With privacy becoming increasingly important in the digital age, it’s encouraging to see chatbots like ChatGPT introducing features to protect users’ private data while still providing a seamless conversational experience. Hopefully, more chatbots will follow suit and offer similar privacy-focused features in the future.
