Nitish Kumar Sworn in as Bihar Chief Minister for the Ninth Time; Forms New Government with BJP

In a historic moment, JD(U) president Nitish Kumar has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar for an unprecedented ninth time. The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Governor Rajendra Arlekar at the Raj Bhavan in Patna. Alongside Nitish Kumar, BJP leaders Vijay Kumar Sinha, Samrat Choudhary, and Prem Kumar also took the oath as ministers in the new government.

The swearing-in ceremony witnessed the participation of key political figures, including JD(U) members Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Vijendra Yadav, and Shrawan Kumar. Additionally, representatives from the Hindustan Awam Morcha led by former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi, Santosh Kumar Suman, and independent legislator Sumit Singh were also sworn in.

Earlier on the same day, Nitish Kumar resigned as the Chief Minister, citing challenges within the Mahagathbandhan and the opposition bloc INDIA. Subsequently, he staked claim to form a new government with the BJP, a party he had parted ways with less than 18 months ago. The political realignment marks a significant development in Bihar’s political landscape and sets the stage for the new government’s endeavors under Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
