The Navi Mumbai Police thwarted a sinister plan targeting Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, arresting four members of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang who were allegedly scheming to attack Khan’s car in Panvel. ANI reported that the gang intended to order weapons from a Pakistani arms supplier to execute their nefarious plot.
A first information report has been filed against over 17 individuals, including Lawrence Bishnoi, Anmol Bishnoi, Sampat Nehra, and Goldy Brar. Among the apprehended suspects are Dhananjay alias Ajay Kashyap, Gaurav Bhatia alias Nahvi, Waspi Khan alias Wasim Chikna, and Rizwan Khan alias Javed Khan, confirmed police officials.
Salman Khan’s security detail has been escalated to Y-Plus since November 2022 due to persistent threats from gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. Additionally, Khan has been granted authorization to carry a personal firearm and has procured an armoured vehicle for enhanced protection.
The gravity of the situation was underscored in March last year when an e-mail threatening the 58-year-old actor was received at his office, prompting the Mumbai Police to register an FIR against Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar, and another individual. The FIR, lodged by Prashant Gunjalkar, cited sections of the Indian Penal Code related to criminal conspiracy, criminal intimidation, and common intention.
