In a high-profile rally in Chhattisgarh’s Surguja, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took aim at the Congress party, accusing it of harboring “Urban Naxals” and seeking favor with the United States. Addressing the crowd at the Vijay Sankalp Shankhnaad Maharally on Wednesday, Modi alleged that the Congress was steering its policies to align with foreign interests.
“There was a storm in their party when I said Urban Naxals have taken control over the Congress party,” Modi said. “They felt that efforts should be made to make America happy. Modi has made such a big allegation, so they are pretending to turn towards them and doing a drama to create balance. But they want to steal your property.”
Modi’s remarks extended to the suggestion by Sam Pitroda, chairman of Indian Overseas Congress, to introduce an ‘inheritance tax.’ According to Modi, the Congress’s intention behind this policy is to undermine the middle class’s ability to pass on wealth to their children.
“The royal family’s prince’s advisor has said that more taxes should be imposed on the middle class,” Modi said. “Congress says that it will impose an inheritance tax, and it will also impose tax on the inheritance received from parents. The property you have accumulated through your hard work will not be given to your children.”
As he continued his attack on Congress, Modi outlined a broader narrative of the party’s approach to governance, stating that it aimed to loot property during life and after death. “As long as you are alive, Congress will impose higher taxes, and when you are no longer alive, it will burden you with Inheritance Tax,” he added.
In a broader political context, Modi accused Congress of promoting reservations based on religion and disregarding the guidance of India’s founding fathers. He cited Congress’s alleged disregard for the principles set by Baba Saheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, to underscore his point.
