PM Modi Accuses Congress and CPI(M) of Playing Political Games in Kerala

Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] of maintaining a close alliance in national politics while pretending to be rivals in Kerala. Speaking at a rally in Thiruvananthapuram marking the conclusion of Kerala BJP president K. Surendran’s Statewide campaign ‘Kerala Padayatra,’ PM Modi criticized the long-standing power-sharing dynamics between the two parties in Kerala.

PM Modi labeled the relationship between the Congress and the CPI(M) as “revolving door politics,” highlighting their history of taking turns in governing the state. He urged voters to recognize this political strategy and consider the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as a viable third alternative.

Despite the Congress and the CPI(M) portraying themselves as adversaries in Kerala, PM Modi claimed that they maintain a cordial relationship in national politics. He emphasized that while they accuse each other of corruption and violence in Kerala, they collaborate as allies in New Delhi.

PM Modi also criticized the CPI(M) for aligning with the Congress’ dynastic politics, accusing them of serving the interests of a privileged family rather than the people. He urged voters to reject this political dynamic and opt for change by supporting the BJP.

The Prime Minister’s remarks underscore the complex political landscape in Kerala, where traditional rivals often find themselves collaborating at the national level while competing fiercely at the state level.
