Maharashtra Deputy CM Fadnavis Criticizes Juvenile Justice Board’s Lenient Approach in Pune Accident Case

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his shock and disappointment over the approach taken by the Juvenile Justice Board regarding the Pune car accident case. The incident involved a minor driving a Porsche, leading to the death of two individuals. The Board’s decision to ask the minor to perform social service for 15 days and write an essay was deemed too lenient by Mr. Fadnavis.

In response to the Board’s decision, Mr. Fadnavis stated that a revision application has been filed by the police, highlighting their dissatisfaction with the verdict. He assured that the police would explore every possible avenue to ensure that justice is served in this case. The Deputy CM’s remarks underline the severity of the public’s outrage and the government’s commitment to addressing their concerns.

Mr. Fadnavis held a crucial meeting with Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and other senior officials at the Commissioner’s office. During a press conference, he emphasized the disturbing nature of the incident and detailed the steps taken so far by the police. He reassured the public that the authorities are closely monitoring the situation and taking appropriate actions.

Furthermore, it was revealed that the Porsche involved in the accident had its registration pending since March due to non-payment of a ₹1,758 fee. This detail adds another layer of negligence to the case, raising questions about the accountability and responsibility of vehicle owners. The Deputy CM’s firm stance on the issue reflects the government’s resolve to ensure stricter enforcement of laws and regulations to prevent such incidents in the future.
