New Delhi: On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the Delhi Police brought back Bibhav Kumar, an aide to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, from Mumbai. Kumar is currently in five-day police custody in connection with the alleged assault on Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal at the Delhi CM’s residence. An officer stated that Kumar had been taken to Mumbai the previous day to retrieve data from his iPhone.

On Tuesday, Kumar was transported to Mumbai for data recovery from his phone, which he had allegedly formatted before his arrest. The police suspect that Kumar may have transferred the data to another person or device in Mumbai prior to erasing it from his phone.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the police have sent Kumar’s phones and laptop, along with CCTV recordings from Kejriwal’s residence, for forensic examination. An officer mentioned that with Kumar’s police custody ending on Thursday, investigators are working diligently to collect all pertinent evidence related to the case.
Allegations and Party Tensions
In the midst of these developments, Swati Maliwal posted on X, alleging that there is significant pressure within the party to defame her. “Yesterday I got a call from a big leader of the party. They told me how there is a lot of pressure on everyone; they have to say bad things against Swati, they have to break her by leaking her personal photos. It is being said that anyone who supports her will be expelled from the party,” she wrote.
