Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate and actress Kangana Ranaut cast her vote on Saturday in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections, expressing strong confidence that the BJP will win all four seats in Himachal Pradesh. Ranaut, representing BJP from Mandi, emphasized the presence of a significant “Modi wave” in the state.
After casting her vote, Ranaut urged voters to participate in the democratic process. “I appeal to everyone to exercise their right to vote in this festival of democracy. There has been so much bloodshed so that we can exercise this right,” she stated.
Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vigorous campaign efforts, she added, “Our Prime Minister has conducted almost 200 rallies and given at least 80-90 interviews in just two months. There is a complete Modi wave in Himachal Pradesh.” Confident in BJP’s “400 paar” slogan for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, she declared, “We are soldiers of PM Modi, and will win all four seats in Himachal Pradesh.”
Ranaut also defended Prime Minister Modi’s recent meditation retreat in Kanniyakumari, which had drawn criticism from opposition parties. She remarked, “Meditation is not new for the Prime Minister. Even when he was not a politician, he used to meditate. Now these people have a problem with that too.”
The Mandi parliamentary seat is experiencing a high-profile electoral contest as Kangana Ranaut debuts in politics, facing Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh, son of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh. Currently, the Mandi Lok Sabha seat is held by Pratibha Devi Singh, Virbhadra Singh’s wife, who won the seat for Congress in a by-election following the death of BJP MP Ram Swaroop Sharma.
The four Lok Sabha constituencies in Himachal Pradesh – Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur, and Shimla – are participating in the seventh and final phase of the elections today, alongside bypolls in six assembly seats in the state.
