Jairam Ramesh Criticizes PM Modi for Contradictory Remarks on Corruption
New Delhi: Congress MP Jairam Ramesh on May 21 criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of making contradictory statements a day after giving interviews. His comments were directed at PM Modi’s recent remarks on corruption during an interview with PTI.
“You’ve put Hemant Soren and Arvind Kejriwal in jail, but why are Adani and Ambani out? You yourself are publicly saying that they are taking a tempo full of black money and giving it to the Congress party. This is what he said. There’s a pattern in the last one week: Prime Minister gives an interview and the next day he contradicts what he says in the interview. Something is happening to him, he’s not well, he needs treatment,” Mr. Ramesh said.
Criticism of Inconsistency
The Rajya Sabha MP highlighted what he perceives as a growing inconsistency in PM Modi’s statements, suggesting that it undermines the credibility of his stance on corruption. Ramesh pointed out the perceived discrepancy between the actions taken against opposition leaders and the lack of similar actions against prominent industrialists.
INDIA Bloc’s Prospects in Uttar Pradesh
Ramesh also expressed optimism about the INDIA bloc’s performance in Uttar Pradesh, emphasizing the significant political turnaround in the state. “We’re seeing a dramatic turnaround in Uttar Pradesh…the road to Delhi is through Uttar Pradesh because 80 seats come from Uttar Pradesh. The response which public gave to Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Uttar Pradesh, people were coming out, youth and women were coming out, ST, SC were coming out. I think there’s been complete disenchantment and disillusionment with the Prime Minister. People are just fed up with him. He’s tired, jaded, and faded,” he said.
Conclusion
The Congress leader’s remarks underscore the ongoing political tension and the strategies being employed by the opposition to challenge the ruling party. As the political landscape heats up ahead of the elections, such statements are likely to further intensify the debate on governance and accountability.
