Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Injured in Stone Pelting Incident During Vijayawada Bus Tour

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy sustained injuries to his forehead after unidentified individuals targeted him with stones during his bus tour in Vijayawada. The incident, characterized by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) as an act of cowardice, occurred while Reddy was acknowledging crowds at Vivekananda School Centre in Singh Nagar.

The stone, believed to have been launched from a catapult due to its high velocity, struck Reddy near his left eyebrow as he greeted people from the top of the bus. Despite the injury, Reddy received immediate first aid and continued his yatra, emphasizing his commitment to engaging with the public.

The attack has sparked condemnation from Reddy’s party, the YSRCP, which has pointed fingers at the Telugu Desam Party and its leader Chandrababu Naidu. This incident comes amidst heightened political activity in Andhra Pradesh, with the state gearing up for both assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

In March, Reddy embarked on a 21-day bus tour titled “Memantha Siddham” (We are all ready) as part of his party’s election campaign, aiming to cover all districts in the state. The incident highlights the challenges faced by political leaders as they navigate the electoral landscape, underscoring the need for enhanced security measures during campaign events.
