The family of Nafe Singh Rathee, the chief of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) who was shot dead in Haryana’s Jhajjar, has refused to allow post-mortem on his body until the accused are apprehended. The son of the deceased, Jitendra Rathee, alleged that local BJP leaders may be involved in his father’s murder and accused the police of refusing security for the family despite multiple requests.
Jitendra Rathee asserted, “We will not allow the post-mortem to be conducted until the police catch my father’s murderers.” He claimed that his father had been seeking security for five years and suggested that all political parties should have supported him before the tragic incident occurred.
Kapoor Rathee, Nafee Singh’s nephew, echoed the demand for the arrest of the accused before allowing the post-mortem. In response to the incident, the Haryana police have registered a case against four individuals and initiated an investigation.
Jhajjar DSP Shamsher Singh stated, “Five teams have been constituted with 2 DSPs to arrest the accused. An investigation is underway. We are collecting physical and scientific evidence.” The police are examining CCTV footage and inspecting a suspected vehicle in connection with the case.
Nafe Singh Rathee was shot dead on February 25 by unidentified assailants near a railway crossing in Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar. The attackers, who arrived in a car, fired indiscriminately, resulting in the death of Nafe Singh and a party worker.
