Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team Triumphs Over Netherlands Club in Europe Tour Opener

The Indian junior women’s hockey team commenced their European tour on a high note with a 2-0 victory against Netherlands club Bredase Hockey Vereniging Push on May 21. Goals from Hina Bano and Kanika Siwach secured the win for India in Breda, Netherlands.

After a tightly contested and goalless first half, where both teams tested each other’s defenses, India finally broke the deadlock in the second quarter. Hina Bano capitalized on a penalty corner to score, following three unsuccessful attempts with set-pieces earlier in the match.

The hosts, Bredase Hockey Vereniging Push, pushed aggressively for an equalizer, earning three penalty corners in the third quarter. However, they were unable to convert their chances into goals, thanks to a resilient Indian defense.

In the fourth quarter, Kanika Siwach doubled India’s lead with a well-executed goal. The Indian defenders then successfully fended off several spirited attacks from the opponents in the closing minutes, ensuring a clean sheet and a winning start to their tour.

The Indian junior team is set to play their next match against Belgium in Breda, Netherlands, later on May 22, aiming to continue their winning streak and gain valuable international experience.
