Indian Coast Guard Rescues 24 Passengers from Stranded Ferry Boat in Rough Weather off Goa Coast

The Indian Coast Guard successfully rescued 24 passengers and two crew members from the tourist ferry boat ‘Nerul Paradise’ after it encountered rough weather and faced fuel exhaustion near Mormugao harbour in Goa, an official reported on Monday.

According to a spokesperson of the Coast Guard, the boat had departed from Panjim with tourists aboard in the morning hours and was caught in waves over three meters high, leaving it stranded off the Goa coast on Sunday.

Personnel from the Coast Guard ship C-148, which was returning from patrol, noticed distress signals from the boat’s passengers and swiftly responded to the situation. Despite challenging conditions, the Coast Guard vessel reached the distressed ‘Nerul Paradise’. A team was immediately dispatched to calm the passengers and crew members on board.

“The Coast Guard team successfully stabilized the situation and safely towed the boat to the harbour, thereby averting a potential disaster,” the official stated.

Upon arrival at the harbour, all passengers and crew members received necessary medical aid, ensuring their well-being after the ordeal.

This incident highlights the crucial role played by the Indian Coast Guard in maritime safety and rescue operations, particularly in challenging weather conditions along the Goa coast.
