Honda, the renowned Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, has taken a strategic step to bolster its position in the Indian motorcycle market by patenting the designs of four of its high-end bikes in the country. Among these, the CBR650R and the CB1000 Hornet are particularly noteworthy, alongside the CB500 Hornet and CBR500R.
The iconic CBR650R, well-known in India since its introduction in 2015, has undergone significant updates for 2024, enhancing its appeal to enthusiasts. Notable design modifications include a sharper rear section and redesigned headlight, imparting a more aggressive and contemporary aesthetic. Additionally, the inclusion of a new TFT dash with Bluetooth connectivity and Honda’s E-Clutch technology promises an enhanced riding experience with smoother clutch control.
The CB1000 Hornet emerges as the largest and most powerful bike among the newly patented models. Featuring the potent 1000cc motor from the 2017 Fireblade, experts anticipate output figures exceeding 150 bhp and 100 Nm of torque. With a new steel twin-spar frame, USD fork, and mono-shock from Showa, coupled with advanced technological features like a 5-inch TFT dash and comprehensive riding aids, the CB1000 Hornet promises an exhilarating ride.
In addition to these flagship models, Honda has also patented designs for the CB500 Hornet and CBR500R, both sharing an engine platform with the NX500 tourer. Sporting a 471cc parallel-twin engine, these models offer a balanced blend of power and agility, complemented by features like switchable traction control, dual-channel ABS, and a high-quality TFT display.
While Honda’s patents secure its designs in India, the company’s official confirmation regarding the launch of these models in the Indian market remains awaited. Known for protecting its intellectual property with previous patents, Honda’s move underscores its commitment to innovation and expanding its product portfolio to cater to diverse consumer preferences. As enthusiasts eagerly await further announcements, the potential arrival of these high-end bikes promises to enrich the Indian motorcycle landscape with cutting-edge technology and performance.
