A severe heatwave sweeping through Gujarat since Monday has claimed the lives of over a dozen people due to heatstroke and heat-induced illnesses. With temperatures soaring between 45°C and 47°C, the state has been grappling with extreme heat conditions.
On Friday, Ahmedabad reported the deaths of two individuals in the city and one in the district due to heatstroke. The city and surrounding areas have been experiencing scorching heat, with temperatures reaching a maximum of 46.7°C on Thursday.
The deadly heatwave has also impacted other regions in Gujarat, including Vadodara, Surat, Jamnagar, Rajkot, and Morbi, where deaths have been attributed to heatstroke, heat-related illnesses, and heart attacks over the past week.
