Godzilla Minus One Dominates Japanese Academy Awards with Eight Wins, Including Best Picture

In a colossal triumph, “Godzilla Minus One” has secured eight prestigious awards, including Best Picture, at the Japanese Academy Awards (Japan Academy Film Prize). Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, the film also received accolades for Best Supporting Actress, Screenplay, Cinematography, Lighting, Art Direction, Sound, and Editing. With a global box office of nearly $107 million and 6.01 billion yen in Japan alone, the film has maintained its supremacy since its November 2023 release.

The monochrome version, “Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color,” has contributed to the film’s continued success, drawing audiences and extending its theatrical run. The late composer Ryuichi Sakamoto and producer Shuji Abe received posthumous recognition with the Chairman’s Special Award, acknowledging their significant contributions to cinema.
