Spectacular Meteor Spotted Over Spain and Portugal Lights Up Social Media

Social media is buzzing with videos of a stunning giant blue shiny object lighting up the skies over Spain and Portugal. Users are claiming the phenomenon is a meteor, with one video shared on X by user Collin Rugg capturing widespread attention.

“This is insane,” Rugg wrote, noting that early reports indicated the blue light was visible “darting through the night sky for hundreds of kilometers.” He added, “At the moment, it has not been confirmed if it hit the Earth’s surface, but some reports say it may have fallen near the town of Castro Daire,” with other reports suggesting it was closer to Pinheiro.

According to NASA, meteoroids entering Earth’s atmosphere at high speeds and burning up are called meteors, or “shooting stars.” These meteoroids can range from dust grains to small asteroids in size.

Rugg’s video quickly went viral, with one astonished user commenting, “So friggin cool! Hope nobody got hurt.” Another wrote, “Legit!!! A once in a lifetime sight,” while a different user added, “It is absolutely breathtaking.”

Several users expressed awe at the footage, with one stating, “This has got to be the craziest meteor footage I’ve ever seen. I bet seeing it in person was mind blowing.” Another user praised the videographer, saying, “That’s crazy! Mad props to the person that was able to get this footage!” Others simply marveled at the sight, calling it “truly marvelous” and “mesmerizing.”

One user reminisced about a similar experience in California, saying, “I saw one of these over rural Central California once, with two other people. I seriously had time to think ‘we’re going the way of the dinosaurs.’ We checked the news and the radio, nothing, and it must have burned up without hitting anything.”

The stunning visual of the meteor has captivated people worldwide, making it a remarkable and unforgettable sight for all who witnessed it.
