The Election Commission of India (ECI) has reported a voter turnout of 59.6% in the sixth phase of the General Elections 2024, as of 7.45 p.m.
Among the states, West Bengal recorded the highest voter turnout with 77.99%, followed by Jharkhand at 61.41%, Uttar Pradesh at 52.02%, Odisha at 59.60%, Jammu and Kashmir at 51.35%, Bihar at 52.24%, Haryana at 55.93%, and Delhi at 53.73%, as of 5 p.m., according to the ECI.
Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Electoral Officer, P C Pole, announced that the polling process for the five parliamentary seats in the Union Territory had concluded. Anantnag-Rajouri constituency registered a 53% voter turnout.
The sixth phase of the General Elections 2024 witnessed a substantial participation from voters across these states, despite the challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and other logistical issues.
The General Elections 2024 are crucial as voters decide the composition of the next Lok Sabha, with political parties vying for supremacy in a highly contested electoral battle.
