An unidentified advocate at Gautam Budh Nagar district court allegedly engaged in misconduct by snatching the collar band of Bharatiya Janata Party’s national spokesperson and senior Supreme Court lawyer Gaurav Bhatia on Wednesday, according to a letter from the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).
Bhatia was present at the Gautam Budh Nagar district courts in Greater Noida’s Surajpur on Wednesday for a legal matter when the incident occurred. The SCBA strongly condemned the action and has urged the local bar association to take action against the culprit once identified.
According to the letter, Bhatia was informed by the office bearers of the district bar association upon his arrival at the court that there was an ongoing lawyers’ strike. Bhatia willingly agreed to adjourn the matter, and the proceedings were duly adjourned.
However, despite the adjournment and the presence of the district and sessions judge, a lawyer allegedly misbehaved and snatched the collar band of Gaurav Bhatia, as stated in the letter addressed to the district bar association.
The SCBA emphasized the need for the district association to identify the lawyer involved and take appropriate action. The incident underscores the importance of upholding professional conduct and respect within the legal fraternity, urging accountability for any acts of misconduct or aggression.
