Driver Claims Fatigue Led to Fatal Accident Involving Former Intel India Head

In a tragic incident in Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai, former Intel India country head Avtar Saini was fatally knocked down by a cab, whose driver, Rishikesh Khade (23), has attributed the accident to fatigue-induced sleepiness. The incident occurred around 5.50 am on Wednesday on Palm Beach Road in Navi Mumbai’s Nerul area, prompting the police to register a case against Khade.

According to reports, the speeding cab collided with Saini, who was cycling at the time. The impact caused Saini’s bicycle to become wedged under the front wheels of the cab as Khade attempted to flee the scene. Saini was rushed to a nearby hospital by his companions but was declared dead upon arrival.

During police interrogation, Khade confessed to losing control of the vehicle due to fatigue from driving throughout the night. Consequently, he has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including rash driving, causing hurt by negligent acts, and causing death by negligent driving under the Motor Vehicles Act.

The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with driving while fatigued and underscores the importance of road safety measures. The police are conducting further investigations into the matter to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
