Food Poisoning Affects 76 Students in Greater Noida Hostel During Mahashivratri Observance

Approximately 76 students were hospitalized in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, due to suspected food poisoning after consuming dinner prepared for those observing the Mahashivratri fast at a private hostel. The students, enrolled at various colleges, experienced symptoms such as uneasiness, dizziness, and vomiting after having ‘puris’ made of ‘kuttu ka atta’ (buckwheat flour) on the evening of March 8. The incident took place at Aryan Residency in the Knowledge Park area, and affected students were promptly taken to various hospitals, with their condition reported as stable. A team from the local Food Safety Department is conducting an inspection, collecting samples for analysis, and initiating legal proceedings as necessary.

The students had consumed a dinner specially prepared for those observing the Mahashivratri fast, and the hostel management is cooperating with the investigation. While the incident caused health concerns, the authorities assured that there is no law and order issue, and the matter is under investigation.
