Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Bollywood star Salman Khan at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, in the wake of the recent firing incident outside Khan’s house. Assuring Khan of tight security measures, Shinde pledged stringent action against the perpetrators and emphasized the government’s support for the actor.
Accompanying Shinde were veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, former MLA Baba Siddiqui, MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui, and Yuva Sena’s Rahul Kanal. Shinde’s reassurance came after Gujarat police arrested two suspects, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, and handed them over to the Mumbai Crime Branch.
The accused, believed to be from Bihar, were presented before the court and remanded in custody till April 25. The firing incident occurred early Sunday morning, with two unidentified individuals firing shots outside Salman Khan’s residence at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra. Though no injuries were reported, the incident raised concerns about the actor’s safety.
While CCTV footage captured the assailants fleeing the scene on a motorbike after firing four rounds, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, purportedly claimed responsibility for the shooting. Expressing shock over the incident, Salman Khan’s family denounced rumors dismissing the severity of the situation, urging the public not to undermine the gravity of the incident.
Salman Khan has faced threats from gangsters like Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar in the past, prompting heightened security measures, including an upgrade to Y-Plus security status, authorization to carry a personal firearm, and acquisition of an armored vehicle for added protection since November 2022.
