Election Commission Allocates Symbol ‘Man Blowing Turha’ to NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar for Lok Sabha Polls

In a recent development, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially allotted the symbol of “man blowing turha” (a traditional trumpet) to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) under the leadership of Sharadchandra Pawar. The announcement was made by the party’s spokesperson, Clyde Crasto, stating that this distinctive symbol will represent NCP candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Crasto, in a statement to PTI, confirmed the allocation of the ‘man blowing turha’ symbol by the ECI. This unique symbol, also known as ‘tutari’ in Marathi, holds cultural significance as it is traditionally sounded to mark the entry of important individuals, a practice that has evolved from kings in ancient times to political leaders in contemporary settings.

The ECI’s decision to designate this symbol to the NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar faction adds a distinctive touch to the party’s representation in the electoral arena. As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, the ‘man blowing turha’ symbol is poised to become a visual identifier for NCP candidates, reflecting both cultural heritage and political aspirations. This symbolic allocation emphasizes the blending of tradition and contemporary political messaging in the upcoming electoral landscape.
