DRDO Successfully Tests Agni-5 Missile with MIRV Technology; Expert R Sheena Rani Leads the Way

In a significant achievement, India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the first flight-test of the Agni-5 missile equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology. Spearheading the DRDO team behind this milestone was missile expert R Sheena Rani, the program director at the Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL) in Hyderabad.

The 57-year-old expert played a pivotal role in the development of the Agni-5 missile, which boasts multiple nuclear warheads. The successful test launch took place on Monday from Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast. The Agni-5’s impressive 5,000-km range has positioned India in an elite club of nations with advanced missile capabilities, drawing attention not only for its technological prowess but also raising concerns in neighboring China, as the missile’s coverage extends across almost the entirety of the country.

This accomplishment highlights India’s commitment to advancing its defense capabilities and achieving technological milestones in missile development.
