New Delhi: The Delhi Police have intensified security at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, in anticipation of a protest organized by AAP’s national convenor and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on May 19. This move comes in response to heightened tensions between AAP and the BJP.
Traffic Advisory Issued for Key Routes
In light of the planned demonstration outside the BJP office on Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Marg, the traffic police have issued an advisory. Commuters are advised to avoid the following areas due to expected heavy traffic:
- DDU Marg
- IP Marg
- Minto Road
- Vikas Marg
DDU Marg may be closed to traffic between 11 am and 2 pm. Travelers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly.
Heightened Security Measures
A senior police officer confirmed that security at the BJP headquarters has been significantly increased. “An adequate number of police personnel has been deployed, and the area has been barricaded,” the officer stated.
Kejriwal’s Accusations and Protest Plans
In a press conference on Saturday, Arvind Kejriwal accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of targeting AAP leaders, including Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, and Sanjay Singh, by sending them to jail. Kejriwal stated, “They are after our party and sending our leaders to jail one after another… Today you have sent my PA (Bibhav Kumar) to jail,” alleging that the BJP also plans to incarcerate AAP MP Raghav Chadha and Delhi ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj.
Kejriwal announced his intention to lead a protest at the BJP office, along with his MLAs and MPs, at noon on May 19. “I along with my MLAs and MPs would go to the BJP office at noon tomorrow so that the prime minister can send anyone he wants to jail,” he declared.
