Congress Declares BJP’s Defeat as Sixth Phase of Lok Sabha Elections Concludes

New Delhi, May 24 – With the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections wrapped up on Saturday, the Congress party confidently asserted that the ruling BJP’s fate is “all but sealed,” while the opposition INDIA bloc has “grown from strength to strength” since the first phase.

Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary in charge of communications, echoed the opposition’s slogan ‘south mein saaf, north mein half,’ indicating that the BJP is being wiped out in the south and losing ground elsewhere. “After polling in Maharashtra, UP, Bihar, and now Delhi, we are witnessing the incredible chemistry built between coalition partners. The INDIA alliance has already crossed the halfway mark of 272 seats and is on course for over 350 seats in total,” Ramesh stated.

Ramesh further claimed that BJP leaders face significant challenges in states like Haryana and Punjab, where they are reportedly being “driven out of villages by residents” due to widespread anger among farmers. “The outgoing PM has extra time to plan his retirement since the BJP’s campaign is ending early,” he remarked.

Highlighting the “incredible chemistry” among coalition partners, the Congress leader reiterated that the INDIA bloc has surpassed the halfway mark of 272 seats and is poised to achieve a tally exceeding 350 seats.

In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim of divine origin, Ramesh called Modi “delusional.” In a recent TV interview, Modi had said, “Until my mother was alive, I used to think I was born biologically. After her demise, I am convinced I was sent by God.” Ramesh retorted, “As the reality of defeat dawns on the outgoing Prime Minister, he has become increasingly delusional.”

Ramesh also criticized Modi’s supporters, noting that Puri candidate Sambit Patra had claimed that even Lord Jagannath is a “bhakt” of the PM. “The voters of India will teach them both a lesson in humility,” Ramesh added.

The Congress leader emphasized the party’s positive campaign, focusing on the ‘Nyay Patra’ and guarantees. “The slogan of ‘Khata-Khat’ has captured the people’s imagination, forcing even the outgoing PM to respond. Our final Guarantee of doubling the free foodgrain allotment under the National Food Security Act has gained traction in North and East India,” Ramesh said.

“Every ground report is clear: ‘Hawa badal rahi hai, Aandhi ban rahi hain.’ The INDIA Janbandhan is set to sweep the NDA away. June 4th is coming!” Ramesh concluded.
