A night of revelry turned tragic in Brooklyn as a mass stabbing incident on a party boat at the Brooklyn Army Terminal left multiple people injured. The New York Police Department (NYPD) and New York City Fire Department (FDNY) responded to emergency calls at Pier 4 around 5.30 pm on April 20. Several individuals were transported to the emergency room with varying degrees of injuries sustained during the incident.
Police reported that the stabbing occurred near the Brooklyn waterfront, close to the intersection of the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Brooklyn Army Terminal. Three men, aged 32, 40, and 28, were hospitalized with stab wounds to the torso, chest, and abdomen, while one of them sustained a head injury from a bottle thrown during the altercation. Fortunately, all three were transported to NYU Langone Hospital, Brooklyn, in stable condition. Two other people received minor injuries but declined further medical treatment after being tended to at the scene.
As the authorities investigated, all 1,300 partygoers aboard the boat were instructed to disembark. A statement released by the event company responsible for organizing the day and night parties aboard the boat mentioned that there had been a “crime scene” near the pier, leading to the postponement of the evening event. The event company, BYFAR Entertainment, is known for hosting safe events in New York City, and this incident is considered an anomaly. In their statement, they emphasized that such occurrences are extremely rare.
While officials have not yet confirmed which party boat was involved in the incident, various images and videos circulating on social media suggest that the Cornucopia Majesty was the vessel at the center of the event. No arrests were made as of Saturday, and the NYPD has launched an ongoing investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The pier where the incident occurred is a former Army supply depot now housing various industrial businesses and serving the city’s ferry service and private vessels. Thankfully, none of the injuries were life-threatening, but the shocking incident has left partygoers and local residents shaken.
