President Joe Biden is gearing up for a star-studded fundraiser set to take place in Los Angeles in June, with notable celebrities like George Clooney and Julia Roberts headlining the event. Former president Barack Obama is also expected to attend, alongside other prominent surrogates and supporters, as revealed by a Biden campaign official to the New York Post.
Clooney and Roberts will not only be lending their star power to the event but will also engage in a unique “contest” as part of the campaign. This contest will be promoted across various platforms including social media, digital advertisements, emails, and text messages, aiming to energize grassroots donors, the official stated.
Both Clooney and Roberts are slated to be featured prominently in campaign materials to broaden the reach of the Biden campaign and garner more support. Clooney, a staunch supporter of Biden, had previously endorsed him during the 2020 elections and even hosted a virtual fundraiser. He has also been a vocal supporter of Obama during his presidency and endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Obama, who has been actively campaigning for Biden, recently joined him for a Radio City Music Hall fundraiser in Manhattan, along with former president Bill Clinton. The event reportedly raised over $25 million, with tickets fetching up to $500,000 each.
The upcoming mega fundraiser in June aims to bolster the financial resources of Biden’s re-election campaign, further solidifying the significant financial advantage it holds over Donald Trump’s campaign, the official emphasized.
While Trump’s campaign has also hosted numerous high-profile donor events, including a record-breaking fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago in April, Biden’s camp remains confident in its fundraising strategy. Despite the potential disparity in fundraising totals, they believe their approach will position them strongly for the November elections.
