KL Rahul Ruled Out of Fifth Test Due to Injury; Bumrah Returns to Boost Indian Pace Attack

In a significant update, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on February 29 that senior Indian batter KL Rahul will miss the fifth and final Test against England in Dharamsala due to a lingering injury in his right quadriceps. Rahul has traveled to London for expert medical consultation on his condition. Meanwhile, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is set to return to the team for the decisive Test match.

Rahul, who has been grappling with the quadriceps issue, had been declared 90% fit before the third Test in Rajkot earlier this month. However, the soreness in his right quadriceps persists, leading to his exclusion from the upcoming Test. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring his condition and is collaborating with specialists in London for further management.

On a positive note for the Indian team, Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested as part of the workload management policy for the fourth Test in Ranchi, will rejoin the squad in Dharamsala. His return adds a significant boost to India’s pace attack for the final Test, which is scheduled to commence on March 7.

With India already holding an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series following their triumph in the fourth Test in Ranchi, the fifth Test in Dharamsala will serve as a crucial encounter as both teams aim to make a mark in the concluding match of the series.
