A. Akshitha, a student of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Ramagiri, Peddapalli district, secured the first prize in a painting competition organized by the Telangana State Council of Science and Technology and the Environment Protection Training and Research Institute. The competition was part of the National Science Day celebrations and focused on the theme of ‘Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat’ and related sub-themes.
The district-level competitions included painting, poetry, singing, and elocution categories, attracting 396 nominations across 33 districts. Sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), the event aimed to encourage students’ creativity and awareness of science-related themes.
Apart from Akshitha’s first prize in painting, winners in other categories include Samaira Fathima of St. Joseph Convent High School (U) in Adilabad district (poetry), Bujjamma of MPUPS, Telair, Narayanpet district (singing), and G. Spandana of MJPTSBCWREIS, Nekkonda, Warangal district (elocution). The prize distribution is scheduled at the Regional Science Centre, Warangal, on National Science Day, February 28.
