Aditya Srivastava, a 26-year-old graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, has emerged as the topper in the 2023 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, securing a coveted position for the Indian Police Services (IPS). His remarkable achievement follows a determined effort and a significant decision to leave his job in Bengaluru to pursue his ambition of joining the civil services.
Having previously worked in a private firm in Bengaluru, Srivastava’s decision to attempt the UPSC exam again proved fruitful as he secured the top rank after ranking 136th in his previous attempt. His family, elated by the news, expressed pride and joy at his accomplishment, describing it as “the icing on the cake.”
Aditya Srivastava’s father, Ajay Kumar Srivastava, shared the family’s journey of supporting Aditya’s aspirations, highlighting his son’s unwavering determination and dedication. Aditya’s decision to quit his lucrative job and commit to UPSC preparation demonstrated his long-standing desire to serve as an IAS officer, a dream now realized with his achievement in the UPSC exam.
Notably, Aditya Srivastava’s success adds to the diverse range of candidates who have excelled in the UPSC exam in recent years. Last year, women candidates secured the top four positions in the UPSC examinations, marking a significant trend in the prestigious civil services exam.
