AAP Releases New CCTV Footage Amid Swati Maliwal Assault Allegations

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released new CCTV footage involving AAP MP Swati Maliwal, intensifying the controversy surrounding her allegation of assault at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. The footage, dated May 13, shows Maliwal walking calmly with security personnel, contradicting her later claims of being assaulted.

AAP asserts that Maliwal exhibited no signs of injury immediately after the alleged incident, as seen in the video where she walks without a limp. However, a second video released by AAP depicts Maliwal limping four days later. The party accused her of “acting to limp” and questioned the inconsistency in her behavior, suggesting that, based on her FIR, she shouldn’t have been able to walk unaided. “What is this game?” AAP questioned in the video.

This marks the second video release by AAP regarding the incident. The previous clip featured Maliwal arguing with security personnel at Kejriwal’s residence. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj commented on the matter, pointing out the contradictions in Maliwal’s behavior. “In the May 13 video, she is seen commanding people from the sofa and does not appear victimized. Yet, in a later video, she is limping,” Bharadwaj told PTI.

Bharadwaj alleged a conspiracy involving BJP leaders and Maliwal to discredit Kejriwal and AAP. “Senior BJP leaders are in contact with her. Delhi CM’s residence has CCTV cameras, and Delhi Police will receive the footage soon. So far, her story appears untrue,” he added.

Maliwal has accused Kejriwal’s secretary, Bibhav Kumar, of assaulting her in the CM’s drawing room, claiming he slapped her multiple times and kicked her in the stomach. The police have filed a case against Kumar, who has denied the allegations. Kumar has also lodged a complaint against Maliwal, claiming she intruded into Kejriwal’s house without an appointment and intended to assault him.

AAP maintains that Maliwal is acting under BJP’s influence to undermine Kejriwal. AAP leader Atishi alleged that the BJP is using Maliwal as a pawn in their political strategy. The release of the CCTV footage adds a new dimension to the ongoing political drama, with both parties standing firm in their respective narratives.
