In a surprising move, BJP’s State organising general secretary G.V. Rajesh has been abruptly relieved of his responsibilities, despite having one year left in his three-year term. He has been shifted to the RSS wing Samarasya.

Traditionally, the BJP drafts individuals from the RSS to manage its organisation as organising general secretary. Mr. Rajesh’s sudden transfer has raised eyebrows, particularly in light of the lack of an official reason or formal announcement for the move.

Speculation is rife within party circles about the reasons behind Mr. Rajesh’s removal. Some believe he may have been unable to maintain his individuality amidst the presence of strong party stalwarts and the alleged groupism within the organisation. Party leaders in the state also suggest that his removal could be linked to the perceived failure to prevent certain hardliners from turning into rebels over the past year.

The move has triggered speculations that more such actions could be forthcoming, especially in the wake of the upcoming Lok Sabha election results.
