Aisshwarya DKS Hegde, the daughter of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, has firmly stated that she has no intentions of entering politics. After casting her vote in Bengaluru during the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections, Aisshwarya made it clear that her focus is on education, not politics.
“I have no intentions (to join politics). I am an educationist and I am happy doing that. Everyone needs to work in different fields to make India proud, and I am working in a field that is required right now,” Aisshwarya DKS Hegde said. Despite being part of a prominent political family, her emphasis on education aligns with her personal career goals.
Aisshwarya tied the knot with Amartya Hegde, son of the late Cafe Coffee Day founder VG Siddhartha and grandson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader SM Krishna, in 2021.
After casting her vote, Aisshwarya emphasized the importance of national growth. “It’s about the country today. If only the country grows, I or any other individual will grow,” she stated, expressing optimism about celebrating with her uncle after the elections.
Meanwhile, DK Shivakumar urged first-time voters to consider a change in the leadership at the national level, highlighting that the BJP has been in power for a decade and suggesting that it was time for Congress to have a chance. “Karnataka is going to poll; the state is giving very big results, and people are very happy as whatever we said in the last elections, we have delivered,” he said.
In his remarks, DK Shivakumar also underscored that the Congress party would surpass 20 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Contrastingly, Tejasvi Surya, the BJP candidate from Bengaluru South constituency, stated that Congress might not win more than 30 seats in the Lok Sabha polls.
The second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Friday covered 88 constituencies across 13 States and Union Territories, with 14 seats in Karnataka. The voting in Karnataka is particularly crucial, with BJP and Congress competing to strengthen their positions in the state and at the national level.
With the Lok Sabha elections underway, Aisshwarya DKS Hegde’s clear stance on her career path and DK Shivakumar’s call for political change illustrate the diverse perspectives within political families. The outcome of these elections will determine the political landscape in Karnataka and across India in the coming years.
