Media reports on Thursday suggest that Adrian Newey, Formula One’s highly esteemed designer, is considering departing from Red Bull Racing, the reigning champions.
A spokesperson from Red Bull clarified that Newey is under contract until at least the end of 2025, stating, “We are unaware of him joining any other team.”
However, according to the BBC, the 65-year-old Newey is exploring the possibility of negotiating an exit to potentially work for another team starting from the next season.
Newey, renowned for his contributions to teams like Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull, has been instrumental in securing 25 drivers’ and constructors’ championships throughout his career.
Despite attempts to reach out for comment, Newey could not be immediately reached.
The BBC and Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport have reported that Newey communicated his desire to leave Red Bull, citing allegations surrounding team principal Christian Horner as a factor.
While Horner was cleared of alleged misconduct toward a female employee in February, the employee has since appealed against the outcome.
Currently, Red Bull enjoys dominance in Formula One with triple world champion Max Verstappen, but Newey has consistently drawn interest from other top teams in the sport.
