Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra embarked on a roadshow in Tripura, urging the people to support the INDIA alliance and promising to deliver on the “paanch nyay” (five justices) outlined in the party’s manifesto, including jobs, minimum support price for farmers, and benefits for women.
Joined by Congress state president Ashish Kumar Saha, Lok Sabha candidate, and other prominent leaders, Gandhi led a massive roadshow from Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport to Durga Chowmuhani in Agartala, showcasing the party’s commitment to the welfare and development of Tripura.
Expressing confidence in Congress’s agenda, Gandhi took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to highlight the enthusiasm among the people for the party’s promises. She reiterated Congress’s pledge to provide jobs, MSP for farmers, financial assistance to women, land redistribution, and free education up to the 12th standard.
Tripura’s two Lok Sabha constituencies, West and East, are set for polling on April 19 and 26 respectively. In the West constituency, Congress’s Ashish Kumar Saha is contesting against former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, while in the East constituency, CPM leader Rajendra Reang is up against Kriti Devi Debbarma of the INDIA Bloc.
Prior to her visit to Tripura, Gandhi addressed a rally in Assam’s Jorhat, where she criticized the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), labeling it as contrary to the Assam Accord. Urging voters to prioritize their issues over political distractions, she called on the electorate to support Congress to address concerns such as inflation and unemployment.
